Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
You might have found yourself here because…
You are expecting or recently had a child
You have started to feel overwhelmed with all of the changes in your life
The weight of caregiving is starting to impact you
You are struggling to bond with your baby
You feel disconnected and sad, the opposite of what you expected to feel
You miss your old life, or at least parts of it
You find yourself constantly worried about your babies safety
You and your partner are starting to have conflict that either wasn’t there before or has gotten worse
Pregnancy and postpartum can feel non-stop.
My goal is to give you a space to reflect on all of the changes you have been through and how you have been impacted.
Many times, new parents are struggling with symptoms of anxiety or depression and they don’t even realize it until they go to a doctor’s visit and fill out a symptoms checklist. It’s easy to write off difficulties as just lack of sleep or busyness.
The truth is that becoming a parent is one of the most vulnerable times of our lives. You might have felt incredibly capable before the baby arrived, and now you feel like you can’t get anything right.
Bringing a new baby into your home is a beautiful and life-changing experience, but it can also bring overwhelming emotions and unexpected struggles.
If you're feeling anxious, sad, or disconnected, you're not alone. As a mom of two myself, I know how complex this time of life can be.
I take a holistic approach to therapy.
For most expecting/new parents, we start with managing your day to day needs. For many this includes utilizing whatever supports you can and problem solving together how you might integrate any additional coping. I will cater my approach to your specific needs depending where you are in your journey and what specific symptoms you are experiencing.
Therapy also often includes integrating your new identity as a parent with all of the other parts of yourself. Some experience grief related to the loss of your pre-child self.
Due to my passion for perinatal mental health, I have gained additional training from Postpartum Support International.
